Coming soon to Boyne City....

It takes many people to make a dream a reality.

                                                                                                   Walt Disney….

The late Jerry Matelski was a dreamer and a visionary.  In 2009, he helped form Boyne Country Community Center Inc,  a non-profit 501(c)(3) group whose dream was to open a community center building in Boyne City.  Sadly, Jerry died in December, 2010 but his community center dream did not die at that time.

In January, 2011, the Boyne City Masons sold their solid 57-year-old building to Boyne Country Community Center Inc. for $50,000.  The 6,000 square foot, two story building is located next to Boyne City's Veteran’s Park.  Northwestern Bank provided a $50,000 loan to fund the building purchase.   Thanks to many major donors, the loan was  paid off in just six weeks.  Since then, many individuals, clubs, and businesses have made one-time donations of $500, $1,000, and more to help fund planned building improvements, which could cost as much as $60,000.  To date, $26,500 in donations and pledges has been collected to fund these projects.

The community center's volunteer board of directors hopes this building will provide Boyne City area teenagers a safe, fun, supervised environment. and also provide a community building for adult group activities.

The community center's website www.boynecommunitycenter.com lists the proposed building upgrades, which include a new front entrance, two enlarged handicapped bathrooms per floor, and a new rear entrance that is handicapped accessible to both floors. Renovations will hopefully begin March, 2012.  Please check out our pictures page on this web site to appreciate our old/new building.  You can help the Boyne Community Center stay debt free by joining the growing list of Major Donors with a one-time, tax-deductible donation. We receive no funding from local or federal government. Major Donors will be recognized on a permanent plaque in the community center lobby.

We would like to thank the following Major Donors who are making this dream a reality!
